Proposed Solid Waste Collection Rate Changes – Public Hearing June 3, 2025

The current Franchise Contract with Republic Services expires June 30, 2025. The City of Pinole is currently renegotiating the contract with Republic Services for the first time in 25 years. There will be some updates to the solid waste collection rates to reflect changes in service levels and infrastructure needs. A public hearing will be held on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at 6:00 PM at the Pinole City Council Chambers, 2131 Pear Street.

If approved, the new rates will take effect July 1, 2025, and support expanded services like bulky item pickups, road improvements, and compliance with state waste mandates. This is the first time the Republic Services agreement, including its fees and potential impacts, has been analyzed in 25 years.

Proposed Monthly Residential Rates:

20-gallon cart: $31.31 (up from $28.63)
35-gallon cart: $34.66 (up from $30.60)
35-gallon senior discount: $32.66 (up from $27.57)
65-gallon cart: $66.59 (up from $53.58)
95-gallon cart: $95.83 (up from $76.82)
