Spring Season opens on April 18

The City of Pinole’s municipal swimming pool is located at 2450 Simas Avenue. The City’s pool has five (5) lanes and is kept at a comfortable 80 degrees. The pool depth ranges from 3.5 feet to 9 feet. The City also offers a small pool for beginners, small children or parent getting their children use to the water.  The children’s pool measures 25′ x 25′ and is two and a half (2.5) feet deep.

The facility and pool offer amenities such as a handicap chair lift and full lockers to put your personal items and showers. Through a contract with the Pinole Seals Swim Club we offer, lap swim and recreational swim. For non-swimmers or parents, the City does offer a shaded grass area, a viewing or sitting deck, and several tables with benches.

The Pool is open to the public from April through October (pool may be subject to closures due to factors including but not limited to attendance, weather, and maintenance). Program offerings may vary.

Zumba

Saturdays and Sundays: 11am-11:50am

Get your cardio exercise in a pool setting where the water becomes you tool for resistance to not only challenge and strengthen your heart muscle, but tone and shape your body as a whole! While submerged in water, you’ll move your body to dun upbeat music using a variation of hand movements designed to increase/decrease fitness intensity by creating turbulence and buoyancy in the water.

Rec Swim is open to anyone. Children under 14 MUST be accompanied by an adult 18 or older. No outside flotation devices are allowed – including swim swimsuits with sewn-in flotation and all other outside floatation devices, including life jackets. Please refer to Pool Rules tab for all pool regulations.

Non swimmers must still pay swim fees, children 12 months and under are free.

Pool Rentals

PUBLIC SWIM POOL PARTY RENTAL

Enjoy a pool party at the Pinole Swim Center. A public pool party is an opportunity to have a designated party area for friends and family during open recreational swim hours. The shaded area will include 2 tables and entrance for 10 guests. Weekend and weekday options are available.

Saturday or Sunday – $210 for 2 tables and entrance for 10 patrons. Additional patrons pay entrance fee ($7) during rec swim hours from 1-5pm during summer hours and 1-4pm during spring or fall hours.

Weekday -$150 for 2 tables and entrance for 10 patrons. Additional patrons pay entrance fee ($7). During rec swim hours from 1-4pm.

*Note: weekday options are only available during summer months, June-August.

PRIVATE POOL RENTALS

The Pinole Swim Center can be rented for private events during times when the pool isn’t being used by the public or the Seals. For more information about specific dates available please contact the Pinole Swim Center.

Scheduled group use is offered during the weekend at a fixed rate. Hours and pool availability are defined and scheduled on a reservation basis. Payment must be presented upon reservation. Facility rental outside of these scheduled times must be approved by the Pinole Seals Supervisor and will be charged on an hourly basis. Group must present Pinole Seals Supervisor with a certificate of insurance listing the Pinole Seals and the City of Pinole as additionally insured prior to date of reservation.

Scheduled groups using the facility during Rec Swim will be limited to 40 pool users at a time. Additional chaperones will be required. This is to maintain safety while still allowing the facility to be available to the public.

All rentals must obtain their own liability insurance. You can obtain your own insurance for friends & family through your homeowners policy or use the City recommended vendor. The form can be found below.

Pool Rules

  1. Children under the age of 8 must be directly supervised by an adult at all times.
  2. No floatation devices allowed in the pool. This includes water wings, life jackets, and suits with floatation sewn into them.
  3. NO running, pushing, shoving, or dunking.
  4. NO rough housing, excessive splashing or hanging on to shoulders and back.
  5. Diving in from the diving well only on grass side and only headfirst. No back flips or other non- front jumps.
  6. Lap swimmers must be a minimum of 18 years of age. (Junior lap swimmers may be authorized by SEALS Supervisor and must have card.)
  7. Lap swimmers may use kick boards, pull buoys, hand paddles and fins. Adult lap swimmers may use mask and snorkel; otherwise equipment may not be used.
  8. NO cut offs or denim. Swimsuits are preferred, shorts and t-shirts are okay. T-shirts can’t be excessively large or hinder movement.
  9. Swimmers must shower before entering pool.
  10. Persons with open sores, wounds rashes or bandages are not allowed in the pool.
  11. Food and drink permitted in the picnic and grass area only. All must be in plastic containers, NO glass or breakable objects allowed in the facility.
  12. NO alcohol and NO smoking in the facility.
  13. Lifeguard has complete and total authority.

Pool Closures

The management may close the facility without notice due to fecal accident, weather, low usage, or other unforeseen circumstances. If the pool is closed early, no refunds are given. Reopening of the pool following a fecal accident is in accordance with health department requirements and may require pool closure for the remainder of the day. If thunderstorms are present, pool users will be asked to exit the pool and will not be able to reenter until the thunder and lightning has been absent for ½ an hour. If at anytime pool use drops below 20, the pool may be subject to early closure at the direction of the Seals Supervisor.

Swim Lessons (Fee based programs)

The Pinole Seals may offer swim lessons and other programs at an additional cost. Registration is required. Registration begins on a designated date and generally continues until the first day unless otherwise noted. Payment in full is required at the time of registration. Space is available on a first come first serve basis. Programs are non-refundable and non-transferable unless the program is cancelled or changed by the Pinole Seals.

There are no make-ups for missed classes.

Morning Classes (Tuesday-Friday)

Each session includes 8 lessons for $130

Evening Classes (Tuesday and Thursday)

Each session includes 4 lessons for $68

Swim lessons are organized into classes by levels. If a child’s level is unknown, they will be evaluated and placed during the first class. All classes are a ratio of 4:1 children to instructor.

Parent and Tot Swim Classes

Session 1: June 21, 28, July 5, and July 12

Session 2: July 19, 26, August 2, and 9

Each Parent and Tot session are 4 Saturdays for $68
